Dad & Daughter go on their first ride together, what a moment it was for me.

After waiting for this moment since her birth, it finally happened. We we went on out first ride together. It started when in the middle of a tedious chore (washing my cars) I thought I'm going to see if her feet could reach the foot pegs on my Honda Blackbird CBR1100XX. To my surprise they both rested on them perfectly. My little girl was ready to experience the open road on two wheels.
I just had to tie up some loose ends and we were off.
I was a little apprehensive, thinking that she would start to freak out around the corner from my home and that I would either have to return or call her mother to come and pick her up. Boy was I wrong. We first went around the block just to test the waters. She wanted to go further. We rode about 4km away and stopped at a harbour and all she wanted to do was go further, she suggested we head off to Sydney which was an hour and a half away. She loved riding on the bike, she was the perfect pillion, leaning with dad on the corners, holding on tight and not fidgeting at all.

My life just got better.

A Quote that made me think.

I was visiting a forum and the post conversation went to what I do and people became very interested in what I had to say. I was asked to provide some pictures of what work I had done in the past. The response was great and questions were being fired left, right and centre.
I had several members ask me about price and although most were happy with the prices I charged, I had a quote come through by one of the members being; "great if you have money to burn"

I was quite stunned by that one; money to burn. What did he mean exactly? The work is phenomenal, the materials I use are premium only, The care taken and the attention to detail, not to mention the innovative methods used to create our seat skins are unheard of and exclusive to us. We keep what we do a secret, it sets us apart from everybody else. "great if you have money to burn", it got me thinking about what is it exactly that I do?

The following is what I come up with.

My true aim in the motorcycling business is not only to offer comfort and style, it's to enhance your riding experience from within.
No one else does that.
It's not just a seat to sit on, it's the smile on your face while you soak up the moment.
It's the feeling of fulfillment as you secretly look over at your bike and admire it.
It's the voice in your head that says wow.
It's the excitement you feel as you prepair to continue your journey.
It's the knowing that the feeling of pain and discomfort are distant.
It's the urge to go and keep going.
It's the ability to focus on your adventure.

It's not just a seat, it's much much more, get the picture?
We as riders; all have something in common, it's the passion to ride, to feel, to accomplish, to share a tail with mates, to live life under our own terms.

So if that is burning your money, you go right ahead and burn away to your hearts content.

I Think the first fundamental part of a good sense of humor is the ability to not take yourself seriously. I think I look like a DOINK. I hope the next one is better.

Car seats, what am I doing?

Wow, I have taken on car seats- mini seats, old mini seat, very old mini seats. I have never done car seats before so I thought; how hard could it be? Man am I out of my comfort zone. These seats are in shocking condition, chunks of foam is missing, pieces of vinyl have deteriorated and vanished over time and not to mention the majority of the padding is horse hair, I didn't see this coming.
anyway I am going to give it my best shot, I have striped the seats and started making the new pieces. I wish I took photos of the seats before I started them, but I didn't. What I will do though is take a photo of the finished product or at least the backrest all done up and the sitting seat in it's original condition so you can see the difference.

I have completed the backrest of the seats and it has turned out fantastic; smooth and luxuriously bulbous. I have stripped the sitting seat now and I have forgotten to take photos, I simply forgot.
In between the I have had a closer look at the steering wheel and am confident to attempt to redress it also to match the rest of the car. At this point I have come to the conclusion that it is going to be fiddly but if I accomplish this task; my confidence will most certainly grow.
I believe I will not undertake car interiors again due to the competition out there, it's not war front I want to be involved in. Instead I will concentrate on the Fairing Covers and make sure that they will be the best they possibly can in every aspect.

We are also a custom motorcycle seat skin manufacturer which we put our heart and soul into every design we are asked to do. The process is not as simple as it seems. We have re-writen the way the art of uphosltrery is done, we have devised our own methods of measurement for templating, which takes into account the stretch factors of the materials we use to ensure the perfect fit every time. You will never see a metzi seat skin with ripples, folds or creases. Just a flawless creation every time.

Introduction

Hi My name is George and I am obsessed with motorcycles.

My obsession goes further than just admiring and riding the magnificent machines, it runs through my veins.

Metzi Moto skinz is the business name of my obsession. My business allows me to be around bikes all day everyday. I look at them, think about them, create products to compliment and protect them.
What draws me most is the feeling of freedom I get with every ride in a time that freedom I believe is an ideology.

This obsession has been the starting point of my relentless struggle to create a product that enhances and protects the aesthetics of a sports style motorcycle. It may sound quite basic, but when you have a group of critical parameters that need to be met for a product; you quickly realise the path and expense ahead. Firstly our fairing skin had to be absolutely safe to use on a  moving motorcycle, then it's got to work better than anything else on the competing market, it must last the test of time, meaning it retains it's shape and doesn't begin to perish as soon as you fit it, It must be easy to fit and remove and not require a University degree for installation. The motorcycle has to remain completely unmodified; meaning no drilling holes, no sticky tabs or screw fittings. Finally it must endure all that the weather can deliver and continue looking great.

The image provided on the right is one of our earlier attempts. We have tested the pants off it over the past 4 years and apart from it looking a little dirty, the fit is exactly the same. It still doesn't flap around, it still protects the Fairing the way it was always designed to, none of the additional parts have perished, become brittle or degraded over time. But after 4 years and over 80,000 kilometers; we can see room for improvement. The improvements are centered around aesthetics and ease of fitting. I am eagerly looking forward to the end result.

I will be sure to release our product onto the market in a controlled manner not to hamper or over commit our production.

I have spent the last 7 years skimping and scraping to make sure this product is what it is and the one thing I am absolutely rock solid about is the superior quality of metzi products, now and into the future. We will continue to manufacture in Australia and forgo the the extra profit margins available by manufacturing in Asia.

Metzi Moto Skinz is just as much a passion as it is a business.
